This plan must include how the criteria for labels and other warnings, safety data sheets, employee information and training will be met. Labels must be legible and in English. Other languages are optional. Employers may not remove or deface labels on incoming containers unless the container is immediately labeled with the required information.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-9619c67 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"9619c67\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-d001219\" data-id=\"d001219\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ea2a7b5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ea2a7b5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\"><strong>Safety Data Sheets<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\">Employers must have a safety data sheet (SDS) for every hazardous chemical in use. SDSs must be readily accessible to employees during each work shift when they are in their work areas. The safety data sheets may be kept in any form if the required information is provided, and employees can access SDS within their work areas.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\">\u00a0Safety data sheets should also be readily available to designated representatives in accordance with \u00a71910.1020. This OSHA regulation requires employers to keep records of hazardous chemicals that employees are exposed to for 30 years. A chemical inventory that reveals when and where a chemical is used and the identity of the chemical can be used instead to satisfy 29 CFR 1910.1020 but it is often easier to keep an archive of safety data sheets to meet this standard.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-d58f871 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"d58f871\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-80c2b27\" data-id=\"80c2b27\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dac9fd1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dac9fd1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\">Employee Information and Training<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\">Employers must provide employees with effective information and training on hazard chemicals in their work area at the time of their assignment and whenever a new chemical hazard is introduced. Information specific to each chemical must always be available through labels and safety data sheets.
